Known as No.1 London, Apsley House was built between 1771 and 1778 and was the London home of the Duke of Wellington. The fastest and most famous of the tea clippers, from the heyday of Britain’s maritime trading past. Launched in 1869, she was the fastest ship of her time and has been at Greenwich since 1957. The cabins have been reconstructed to illustrate life at sea in the 1870s and contain a fascinating collection of exhibits, ranging from figureheads to period newspaper cuttings.

The Golden Hinde is an accurate reconstruction of the 16th century Tudor Galleon in which Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the world in the late 1500s. This famous 11,500 ton battle cruiser is the last surviving big gun WW11 ship of its kind. The Belfast played a crucial part in the Normandy landings and was in serve with the Royal Navy until 1965. Today, the ship has an exhibition on its famous history, the conflicts in which it took part and the lives of the men who served on her.

The Palace of Westminster has been the site of the Houses of Parliament since 1265 and includes both The House of Commons and The House of Lord’s chambers. The clock tower houses the famous bell, Big Ben. Members of the public are admitted to the Strangers’ Gallery to watch debates when either of the Houses are in session and there are daily tours during Parliament’s summer recess in August and September.

Set in leafy grounds beside Hampstead Heath, this outstanding house was bequeathed to the nation by Brewing magnate Edward Cecil Guinness in 1925, first Earl of Iveagh, he bought Kenwood House and gardens in 1925. The house features important paintings by many great artists and the tranquil surrounding gardens and parkland provide fantastic views of London. Hosts summer picnic concerts during July and August.
